The Oregon Trail is a series of educational computer games. The first game was originally developed by Don Rawitsch, Bill Heinemann, and Paul Dillenberger in 1971 and produced by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium ( MECC) in 1974.
The original game was designed to teach school children about the realities of 19th- century pioneer life on the Oregon Trail. In The Organ Trail, players must cross a post- apocalyptic United States in an old station wagon in order to reach a sanctuary free of zombies.
Players must manage their limited resources, including food, ammunition and fuel for their vehicle, in order to complete their journey and keep everyone in their party alive and healthy.
